TidyExpenses — Smart Bill Tracker

What's due. What's paid. What you still owe.

TidyExpenses answers all three in about five seconds — then flags whatever needs you today. It's one file that opens in your browser. No account. No subscription. No bank logins. Your bills stay on your device, where they belong.

Four questions. One screen. That's the whole app.

Watch it work — about 90 seconds

No demo account, no fluff. Here's the actual app.

Bills are simple. Keeping track of them isn't.

Here's where most people end up:

You don't need a financial system. You need your bills handled.

TidyExpenses does the keeping-track part.

Open one file. Add a bill — name, amount, due date. Log payments as they happen. The app keeps the picture current by itself.

The three things a bill list can't do.

Partial payments

You paid $40 of a $100 bill. The app knows what's left.

Record any amount against any bill. The remaining balance updates everywhere, instantly — no margin math, no sticky note. Pay it off in two payments or five; each one is dated, noted, and kept.

Recurring bills

Enter rent once. Not once a month — once, ever.

Set a bill to repeat — monthly, every 2 months, quarterly, every 6 months, or annually — and each month's bill shows up on its own, on the right date. Pause a series when it stops. Edit one bill, or the whole series; the app always asks which you mean. Bills you've already paid are never rewritten.

Next 12 months: handled.
Auto-pay confirmation

Auto-pay isn't "paid" until you've seen it go through.

Flag a bill as auto-pay and it wears a quiet badge until its due date — reassurance, not noise. After the date passes, the app asks you to confirm the payment actually landed. Because auto-payments do fail, and the tracker that silently marks them paid is hiding the one thing worth catching.

And when something needs you, it says so.
"3 bills are overdue — $240.00 owed." One tap takes you straight to them. Overdue rows tell you how many days and how much to catch up — plainly, without the guilt trip. When everything's handled, the panel simply isn't there.

The part other apps won't give you.

It's yours

One file. One price. Forever. No subscription, ever.

It's private

Everything stays on your device. Nothing uploaded, tracked, or sold.

It's offline

No internet, no account, no login. It even works on a plane.

It's simple

If you can fill in a form, you've already mastered it.

Straight talk about where your data lives.

"Stays on your device" is the good news and the fine print, so here it is plainly:

  • Your bills save automatically — in the browser you're using, on the device you're using.
  • They don't sync. Chrome on the laptop and Safari on the phone are two separate places.
  • They can be lost if you clear your browser's site data, or open the file in a private window.
  • So the Save button is the real safety net. One click, one dated backup file. Keep it somewhere safe.
  • New laptop? Save a backup, move the file, hit Import. Everything comes back — payments and all.

The app tells you all of this itself, the first time you open it. We'd rather be honest about the trade than quietly hope you never find out.

Is this the right one for you?

TidyExpenses is a bill tracker. On purpose. It doesn't track your income, your accounts, your savings goals, or your debt payoff — and it isn't trying to.

TidyExpenses"What's due, what's paid, and what do I still owe?" Start here.
TidyBudget"What's my whole financial picture?" Accounts, income, goals, debt.

If a full budgeting dashboard feels like overkill right now, this is the one. It's the lightest lift in the whole line — and it's the one that gets the bills handled.

"But wait —"

Do I need an account?
Nope. Open the file and go.
Is it a subscription?
No. Pay once, use it forever.
Does it work offline?
Completely. No internet required — not even the first time.
Does it connect to my bank?
No, and it never will. It doesn't move money or pay anything on your behalf. You tell it what happened; it keeps track.
Is my data safe?
It never leaves your device. Back it up anytime with one click — and please do (see above).
Is it complicated?
Name, amount, due date, save. Everything clever happens after that, without you.
I already have version 1 — what happens to my data?
It upgrades itself. Every expense becomes a bill, the math is checked to the cent before anything changes, and a snapshot of your original data is kept and downloadable. Old backup files import fine too.
